How to compress a JPEG to 100KB
- 1
Drop your image into the box above, click to browse, or paste it with Ctrl+V. iPhone HEIC photos work too.
- 2
The target is already set to 100KB. Change the number if your form asks for a slightly different limit.
- 3
Check the new size under the image, hold "Compare" to see the original, then download.
When do you need a 100KB JPEG?
Many websites and online forms reject uploads above 100KB. This is common for visa, passport and other online application forms. Government portals, university admissions and many profile uploads cap images at 100 KB.
Our tool searches for the highest JPEG quality that still fits under 100KB, so you keep as much detail as possible. If the image is very large, it is also scaled down a little until it fits, and the new dimensions are shown under the image.
Frequently asked questions
Can I crop or resize the photo before compressing it to 100KB?
Yes. Use the Crop and Resize tabs first; the 100 KB target is applied to the final image automatically.
Will the file be exactly 100KB?
It will be at or just under 100KB, never over. Upload portals only check the maximum, so a file slightly below the limit is accepted.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device.
Can I compress PNG or WebP to this size?
Yes. PNG and WebP images are converted to JPG while compressing. Transparent areas become white.
